About Off Broadway
The term Off Broadway refers to professional productions in New York City that take place in venues seating between 100 and 499 people - smaller than traditional Broadway theatres but with just as much innovation. Off Broadway Shows are known for their artistic freedom and creative risks, making them the perfect place for emerging playwrights and established names seeking a more intimate connection with audiences. Many Broadway and Off Broadway Shows began in these smaller spaces, including Hamilton, Rent, and Dear Evan Hansen. Today, Off Broadway Musicals and plays continue to push boundaries just steps away from Times Square.
About Off Off Broadway
Even further off the beaten track is the world of Off Off Broadway, where theatres seat fewer than 100 people and productions often take place in experimental venues, studios, or even non-traditional spaces. Off Off Broadway is where you'll find raw, original, and often avant-garde performances that aren't concerned with commercial appeal but rather with artistic expression. These shows are the lifeblood of New York's theatre ecosystem, nurturing the voices and visions that may one day transform the stage.
