Songstress Ledisi Honors Legendary Musician Nina Simone

Grammy Award nominee and powerful songstress Ledisi will celebrate jazz and soul legend Nina Simone at The Apollo Theater in New York. Joined by Grammy Award winning music producer and drummer Gregg Field, the night will comprise of Ledisi's own soulful R&B tunes and the timeless magic of Nina Simone's music.

With Jazz being one of her key musical influences, Ledisi first broke into music in 1995 in a group called Anibade. The singers' dynamic vocals have since earned her twelve Grammy nominations, the 2013 award for 'Outstanding Jazz Album' at the California Music Awards and various entries onto the Billboard Hot R&B chart.

The legendary and late singer Nina Simone excelled in various genres including classical, gospel, blues, folk and jazz. She became iconic through hits like 'Don't Let Me Be Misunderstood,' 'My Baby Just Cares for Me,' and 'Sinnerman' as well as her dedication to activism.
