As if losing Dear Evan Hansen didn't tear a heart in Broadway theater-goers, Tina: The Tina Turner Musical and Come From Away have also announced their final performance dates on Broadway, and they're sooner than we expected.
The Lunt-Fontanne Theatre has been Tina: The Tine Turner Musical's home since it opened in November 2019. Since it's opening it received 12 Tony-award nominations including Best Musical. However, the big wheels will no longer keep turning on Broadway as they will play their final performance on Sunday 14 August. Upon closing it will have played 27 previews and 482 performances!
If you're unable to catch Tina on Broadway, a North American tour is set to kick off on September 14 - so keep an eye on your city as she may be 'rolling down the river' to you.
Come From Away has cemented itself as a celebrated, much-loved Broadway musical with an infectious soundtrack - but the rock will welcome its last audience at the Schoenfeld Theatre on Sunday 2 October. Upon closing, Come From Away will have played 25 previews and an incredible 1,670 performances.
It's always sad to see musicals go, but always a pleasure to welcome new ones in. We wonder what's next to grace the stages of Lunt-Fontanne and Schoenfeld Theatre... maybe a classic production? Or something completely new ready to test the Broadway waters!
