& Juliet to close on Broadway
Romeo, Romeo, where art thou...OH PLEASE!
$175 million in revenue, 1.5 million audience members, 43 Broadway debuts and nearly 9,000 pounds of confetti later, the Max Martin-inspired musical has officially announced the end of its Broadway run. & Juliet will play its final performance at the Stephen Sondheim Theatre on 3 January 2027, after a whopping 1,723 performances. If there's anything we've learned, it's that Juliet has a far better time when she takes the title for herself. So, there's only one thing left to say...
A Broadway Hit
Opening on Broadway in November 2022, & Juliet quickly established itself as one of the major post-COVID Broadway hits. In fact, it's now the only show from the 202223 theatre season still running, making its closure a pretty big moment for Broadway.
With a book by Schitt's Creek writer David West Read and a score packed with songs by Swedish pop mastermind Max Martin and friends, the musical asks one very important question: what if Juliet didn't die? Throw in pop bangers, fabulous costumes, and an even better ending, and you've got yourself a musical to remember - and what a musical it's been!
