Say Goodbye to Cats: The Jellicle Ball on Broadway
The claw-some musical sets its final date
Andrew Lloyd Webber's Tony-nominated revival Cats: The Jellicle Ball will play its final performance at Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre on August 8. We swear we're feline fine about the news...
About The Show
Originally premiering in London in 1979 and inspired by T.S. Eliot's Old Possum's Book of Practical Cats, Cats follows the Jellicle Cats as they gather for their annual ball, where one is chosen to begin a new life. While the original production was known for Gillian Lynne's ballet-inspired choreography and iconic feline costumes, Cats: The Jellicle Ball reimagines the story through the vibrant world of Ballroom culture, transforming the Jellicle Cats into drag ball contestants serving unforgettable runway looks.
Following an acclaimed run at New York's Perelman Performing Arts Center, the production transferred to Broadway's Broadhurst Theatre, where it won three Tony Awards in 2026: Best Direction of a Musical (Zhailon Levingston and Bill Rauch), Best Choreography (Omari Wiles and Arturo Lyons), and Best Costume Design of a Musical (Qween Jean).
