Join Tom Hiddleston and Haley Atwell as they play the 'merrily warring' will-they-won't-they couple Benedick and Beatrice in the Bard's witty romantic comedy as this exuberant production makes its Broadway transfer, directed by Jamie Lloyd!
Much Ado About Nothing reunites the director and Hiddleston following their collaboration on Harold Pinter's Betrayal in 2019. Speaking on the news of the transfer, Hiddleston enthused that working on Much Ado was "one of the most fulfilling experiences of my performing life. I could not be more thrilled to bring this jubilant and joyous production to Broadway." Atwell, who makes her Broadway debut with the show, added, "We're thrilled new audiences will experience this story through Jamie's innovative direction. This is a modern celebration of universal themes."
A massive hit in the West End, Lloyd's Much Ado is a glittering, disco-infused thrillride that brings the play into the 21st century. Bold, big, and brilliant, don't miss this fantastic pairing as they bring the original enemies-to-lovers tale to Broadway, turning whatever venue it pitches up at into the hottest nightclub in town.
Praise from the West End:
"With a chemistry that's as bright as the modern-day costumes in this weird and wonderful show, the actors turn Shakespeare into a giddy house party cum modern romcom. Lloyd himself seems like the god of mischief in constructing this party of pink silliness. You would have to be a god of stone to not be seduced by its wacky winter joy. A wonderfully giddy thing indeed."
The Guardian
"Jamie Lloyd's Tom Hiddleston and Hayley Atwell-starring take on Much Ado' is a ridiculous, ecstatic, hilarious masterpiece."
Time Out
A perennial favourite of Will's oeuvre, Much Ado About Nothing pits the sexes against each other with riotous results. Two couples dance around declaring their love for each other; Benedick and Beatrice, and Hero and Claudio. But when the machinations of a dastardly nobleman threaten their happiness, one of our heroes must fake their own death to get a truly happy ending...
