Award Winning Play Makes Broadway Premiere
Tracy Letts' compelling Bug first premiered in London, England in 1996. Centering on two lovers whose loneliness breeds paranoia and stories involving conspiracy theories, the captivating drama quickly made Washington D.C. and Chicago debuts and winning a slew of awards, before being adapted into a film in 2006. Just shy of three decades since its original premiere, Bug comes to Broadway for the first time. A transfer of the 2021 Chicago production the play stars the full Chicago cast, including the award-winning Carrie Coon (The Gilded Age, Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf) in the lead role, alongside Namir Smallwood, Randall Arney, Jennifer Engstrom and Steve Key, under the direction of David Cromer.
What Is It About?
BUG follows waitress and motel resident Agnes who falls for biker and veteran Peter. Together, they become increasingly paranoid and begin to focus on everything from UFOs to cult suicides to the war in Iraq. The production has received four Lucille Lortel Awards, two Obie Awards and three Drama Desk Award nominations.
