World renowned Dutch conductor Jaap Van Zweden takes his inaugural bow as the New York Philharmonic's fearless leader during an exciting first season of groundbreaking programming. Together the ensemble invites the people who keep The Big Apple spinning (teachers, first responders, public service workers and volunteers) for four special performances that honour their hard work and dedication.
With the appointment of a dynamic new leader, the 2018/19 season represents a fresh start for the New York Philharmonic and as such, it reflects a return to the city's roots with a series of world premieres and a spotlight shone on local composers and performers. The Phil The Hall series aims not only make the art of classical music socially inclusive, but to give back to those who are constantly giving. Please note: Specific concert programs are yet to be announced.
