Fishing for Wives is a comedy-of-errors by Edward Sakamoto which receives its New York premiere courtesy of the Pan Asian Repertory Theatre. Set in 1913 Hawaii, two Japanese immigrants - Nishi and Aoki - live a lonely lives as fisherman on Big Island. One day, Nishi decides to solve his woman troubles forever by sending for a mail-order bride from Japan. Thinking of his fisherman friend as the more handsome of the two of them, he uses Aoki's photo instead of his own.

Upon arriving in Hawaii, the bride proceeds to fall in love with the 'wrong' husband, resulting in a comedy of errors that has the two fisherman coming to heads over the (seemingly) doomed romance and case of mistaken identity! This beautifully written play comes from a well-established playwright whose career spans two decades.
