Tony Award nominee Anne Kaufman (Mary Jane) directs the Off-Broadway debut of Clare Barron's Obie-winning play, opening at the Cherry Lane Theater in February 2026. Following a young woman returning home to care for her father after losing everything, You Got Older is a story of growth and intimacy and stars Alia Shawkat (Arrested Development) in her theatrical debut.
Mae's life has just taken an abrupt, and unexpected, swerve off road. Her relationship has ended, and her job is gone. Left with few options, she goes back home to care for her terminally ill father. But Mae didn't realise just how lost she'd gotten - and even her "fantasy" of an imaginary cowboy saviour can't seem to help her find the way. Perhaps a chance encounter with a stranger in a bar might just give her a connection to the world that she desperately needs...
