A boundless innovator and songwriter of extraordinary invention, David Bowie did it all, bending the rules of one genre and then creating a whole new one. Through his experimentations in glam, kraut rock, soul and dance music, he influenced every musician under the sun, some of whom come together at Carnegie Hall for this special memorial concert. Included on the bill are Cyndi Lauper, The Roots, The Mountain Goats and Jakob Dylan (along with some promised surprise guests), who will cover their favorite tracks from one of rock's greatest back catalogues.
This concert, the latest in an annual series of tribute shows at Carneigie Hall, was in the planning long before the news of Bowie's death broke, and now takes on a whole different level of poignancy. A second show has also been added sue to high demand at Radio City Music Hall. Both shows are a chance for his peers and fans to come together as one in celebration of the man who changed music forever.
