BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical

BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical at Broadhurst Theater

Why see BOOP! The Betty Boop Musical?

Broadway Premiere

Nominated for 3 Tony Awards with a nomination for Jasmine Amy Rogers!

Boop-oop-a-doop! Cultural icon Betty Boop will finally get her time center stage as this brand-new musical comes to Broadway following a Chicago try-out. Created by a starry team of Tony and Grammy-winning talent including direction from Jerry Mitchell (Kinky Boots) and music from David Foster, this exciting new musical will see the beguiling 30s cartoon come to life in her own fully staged story. Taking place on her day off - we'll see Betty step out of her black-and-white world to spend the day in New York City, where she discovers a vibrant universe of color and joy.

Betty Boop

Created by Max Fleischer in 1930, Betty Boop's instantly recognizable flapper-style finger waves and red lip was seen in multiple short animations for Paramount pictures, gaining fans for her racy attire and cutesy outlook. A victim of the Hayes code, she was given a more demure appearance in the later part of the decade, but it was her original look that best stayed in audiences' minds. With a resurgence coming in the 80s when her shorts were syndicated on cable, Betty became the pop culture icon we know her as today. With this rich history, many attempts have been made to give Betty her own feature, with little success. But it looks like this version, which David Foster has been marinating on since at least 2012, will finally give Betty the legacy she deserves! We're here for the Boop-isancce!

Must see for any Broadway fan!

This show was just incredible. It had the mix of comedy without being cheesy, a full plot line that actually went somewhere and all of the actors/actresses left me speechless with their physicality and vocals mainly. The actress for Betty Boop was phenomenal and I was shocked to find out this was her Broadway debut. She was perfect for the part in every single way. I would highly recommend this show to anyone, especially young girls. It had the touch of feminism that is inspiring to not just young girls but women everywhere. Loved loved LOVED the show!! ...
