Harlem's holiday musical returns by popular demand
Following its sold out run last year, The First Noel returns to the Apollo Theatre this Holiday season. The Classical Theatre of Harlem's moving and celebratory tale follows three generations of one Harlem family as they cope with the loss of a young daughter. Written by Lelund Durond Thompson and Jason Michael Webb, the story focuses on the characters of Noel, a young girl whose older sister died one Christmastime. Ever since, the family haven't celebrated the holiday, but all that is about to change!
Packed full of original jazzy musical numbers, and gospel-infused takes on popular Holiday tunes, The First Noel is a winning alternative to New York's usual Christmas fare, and will really make you appreciate having your family near at this time of year.
Music and Lyrics by Lelund Durond Thompson & Jason Michael Webb
Directed by Steve H. Broadnax III
Choreography by Brian Harlan Brooks
