The powerful Civil Rights documentary combining live music, spoken word and historical video footage
The history of the American Civil Rights movement is closely tied with music. Artists used their medium as a vehicle for protest and the spreading of ideas, solidarity and most importantly hope. Billed as a live musical documentary, visionary musical director Chen Lo's Soundtrack '63 will immerse their audience in the music of the movement, performed by an 18 piece orchestra and vocal ensemble.
Comprised of spirituals, hip-hop, jazz, funk-infused protest songs, the soul-stirring soundtrack will be accompanied by historical video footage and spoken word poetry from Sonia Sanchez and Abiodun Oyewole, as well as yet-to-be-announced special guests. At a time of great political unrest, Soundtrack 63 seeks to bridge the gap between generations and educate through music.
