Kings & Queens Of New Jack Swing

Kings & Queens Of New Jack Swing at Apollo Theater

Why see Kings & Queens Of New Jack Swing?

Teddy Riley & Kieth Sweat Celebrate New Jack Swing's Legacy

During the mid 80s and early 90s, the popular blend of hip-hop rhythms and the urban contemporary sound of R&B dominated the dance floors of New York City thanks to early pioneers Bernard Bell and Teddy Riley. The Big Apple's very own Apollo Theater pays tribute to the influential fusion genre with a special one-night-only homecoming concert for Harlem natives Riley and Keith Sweat, who'll perform their nostalgic hits alongside Guy, Blackstreet, Kool Moe Dee and Doug E. Fresh.

Widely acknowledged as the reigning 'New Jack Swing King', multi-talented singer songwriter and producer Edward Theodore Riley first experimented with a hip hop contemporary hybrid in his production work with Michael Jackson, Bobby Brown and Usher, amongst others. He found early success for his own music when his debut self-titled album with Blackstreet hit platinum and their sophomore effort Another Level rode high in the Billboard charts thanks to the much covered smash hit 'No Diggity'.
