Visionary writer and artist Libby Carr brings their extraordinary new dark comedy-drama Off Broadway, opening at the 59E59 Theater this February. Telling the tale of five teenage girls trying to find themselves in a highly religious cattle ranch community, Calf Scramble is a searing, funny, and utterly original coming-of-age story from one of the most exciting voices in theater.
In the dusty depths of rural East Texas, five teenage girls' lives are being formed in an old barn. As they help looking after cattle calves, they are also dealing with navigating what it means to be good people. Struggling to live up to the faith that's been drummed into them as long as they can remember is a key part of survival, as fierce competition butts heads with moments of tenderness. Raising cattle is looking like the easy part.
