Moulin Rouge to close on Broadway

Kitty, February 6th, 2026

The spectacular spectacular has announced that it will finish its seven-year stint this July

After seven sparkling years, Broadway's Moulin Rouge has announced that the red windmill will close its doors at the Al Hirschfeld Theatre this summer.

A glittering extravaganza based on the Academy Award-winning film by Baz Luhrmann, Moulin Rouge first opened back in 2019 and starred Aaron Tveit and Karen Olivo as the central lovers, caught up in the demi-monde of 19th Century Paris.

Taking its cue from the movie, the musical mashes up popular songs to tell the story of a writer who falls for a courtesan working at the infamous venue, including tunes from Lady Gaga, Pink, SIA, Britney Spears and the Rolling Stones, adding to the already beloved score that featured snippets of the songs of David Bowie, Madonna, the Police and more.

Currently featuring Meg Donnelly as Satine, Christian Douglas as Christian, and Cauldwell Tidicue a.ka. Bob the Drag Queen as club manager Harold Zidler, audiences will be able to experience the fever dream until July 26. But that's quite the end for the Boheimians, you'll still be able to catch it on its national tour, or across the pond in London's West End!

On closing, Moulin Rouge will become the 36th-longest-running Broadway show, with 2,265 regular performances and 24 previews.
