Second Stage Push Back Take Me Out Previews

The production will now begin performances on April 14
Previews for the upcoming Second Stage revival of Richard Greenberg's Tony-winning Take Me Out at the Helen Hayes Theater have been pushed back by two weeks it has been announced. Performances will now begin on April 14, instead of the previously scheduled April 2.
The announcement comes as many Broadway and off-Broadway theaters and productions go dark amid the ongoing COVID-19 situation. News about whether Take Me Out's opening night date will change is yet to be announced.
Starring Jesse Williams, Jesse Tyler Ferguson and Patrick J. Adams this 2020 revival of Greenberg's 2003 Best New Play Tony Award winner is directed by Scott Ellis.
The cast also includes Michael Oberholtzer, Eduardo Ramos, Julian Cihi, Hiram Delgado, Brandon J. Dirden, Carl Lundstedt, Ken Marks and Tyler Lansing.
What is Take Me Out About?
Taking place primarily in a men's locker room, Take Me Out chronicles the aftermath of Darren Lemming's public coming out of the closet. A mixed-raced national hero/star center fielder for fictional team The Empires, Lemming finds the reception to this news both on and off the field is fraught with previously unaired intolerance and discrimination. Even his own friends are confused and afraid, and amidst growing frictions and confrontations, Lemming and his team struggle towards a champion season and a foreboding sense of doom.
