Lin-Manuel Miranda Named As The Recipient Of The 18th Monte Cristo Award!
News Desk, January 12th, 2018Tony and Pulitzer Prize winner Lin-Manuel Miranda is set to receive the O’Neill Theater Centers Monte Cristo award! The award is presented each year to artists who symbolize the “pioneering spirit†of the namesake playwright.
The Hamilton and In The Heights creator will be presented with the prestigious award before taking part in a conversation at a gala dinner at New York’s Edison Ballroom, April 30.
Miranda will join previous recipients of the award including playwrights; Edward Albee, Neil Simon, Wendy Wasserstein, and actors Meryl Streep, Christopher Plummer and Nathan Lee.
Lin-Manuel Miranda has made a profound mark on the American Theatre field, and we can’t wait to see him on the big screen when he stars opposite Emily Blunt in the upcoming Mary Poppins Returns! But that isn’t the only thing Miranda is working on, he’s also collaborating with Alan Menken on new music for Disney’s live-action Little Mermaid.
There’s no slowing down when it comes to Miranda, and we couldn’t think of anyone more deserving to receive this award! Huge congratulations to the legendary Miranda.
