Elton John Achieves EGOT Status At Emmys!

Welcome to the EGOT club, Sir Elton John!

At the age of 79, the legendary singer and composer won his first Emmy Award at the 2024 Los Angeles ceremony, which when added to his other prestigious accolades (which includes a Grammy and an Oscar), makes him the 19th person to achieve EGOT status. Now that's a career that's still standing!

John won the Emmy for Outstanding Variety Special (Live) for Elton John: Farewell From Dodger Stadium. The film event celebrated his last North American Concert and the first global live stream on Disney+.

What is an EGOT award?

When a person earns EGOT status, it means that they become part of a select few who have managed to win all four of the major American entertainment awards - an Emmy, Grammy, Oscar, and Tony, which is exactly what EGOT stands for. It is the ultimate achievement for a person in entertainment.
