Burgess is stepping into the role of Harold Zidler in Moulin Rouge! The Musical
Known for his role as Titus Andromedon in the hit Netflix show 'Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt', for which he was nominated for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy Series at the Emmys, Burgess is set to make a return to the Broadway stage. He will be joining Moulin Rouge! The Musical from October 10th, 2023, and taking on the role of Harold Zidler for a limited engagement until December 17, 2023. The current Zidler, Eric Anderson, will return to the position on December 19, 2023.
Burgess first made his Broadway debut in 2005 when he played the role of Eddie' in Good Vibrations. Since then, he has been a part of Jersey Boys, Guys and Dolls, and originated the role of Sebastian the crab in the Broadway musical The Little Mermaid'. He has also lent his voice to movies like 'The Angry Birds Movie' and 'Smurfs: The Lost Village', and starred as 'Cole Tillerman' in the musical cartoon series 'Central Park', alongside Leslie Odom Jr, Kirsten Bell, Daveed Diggs, Josh Gad, Kathryn Hahn, and Stanley Tucci.
What's Moulin Rouge about?
The year is 1900 and Christian, a young poet and talented writer has come to Paris to pursue a career and become a member of the Bohemian movement there. Christian ends up falling hopelessly in love with Satine, the star of the infamous Moulin Rouge, however, Satine has already been promised to the unscrupulous Duke. A love triangle ensues, as Christian and Satine try to stay together against all odds they are led down a dark and dangerous path but Satine is holding a terrible secret of her own...
