A brand new Glinda for Wicked!

Wicked is about to welcome a new leading lady - and break barriers at the same time!

Wicked is to welcome a brand new leading lady as Brittney Johnson makes the move from standby to lead Glinda. The move marks a milestone for the Tony-winning, record-breaking musical as Johnson becomes the first Black performer to play the role of Glinda full-time on Broadway!

But that's not all - the production has also cast its first Black performer in the role of Boq. Jordan Barrow says he's had to pinch himself after having grown up as a big Wicked fan.  He went on to say " I feel like I am getting to make strides for so many others to see themselves represented in ways they never have before."

As one of Broadway's longest-running and highest-earning productions, Wicked packs a lot of clout. And so embracing proper representation in its casting should hopefully send a message for more leading Broadway productions to finally step up and do the same.
