Broadway set to reopen!
It's the news we've all been waiting for as Broadway is given the green light to reopen without capacity restrictions from May 19th
The news comes as NYC governor Andrew Cuomo announced that parts of New York City, New Jersey and Connecticut would be able to resume indoor activities - including performances - without reduced audience capacities.
There's a small catch, of course, that venues will still need to adhere to any social distancing measures put in place by the CDC. However, these may be able to be relaxed should "all attendees provide proof of vaccination or a recent negative test result". And with vaccinations programmes across the USA ramping up roll-out, this may not be that far away.
While not yet a return to the pre-COVID theatre experience, the news still means that productions can start to work towards allowing audiences back into theatres - and theatre professionals a chance to finally get back on stage.
Looking ahead, it is hoped the by July 1st the city and smaller theatre venues will be able to 'fully reopen' without any form of restrictions.
