Mojada

A timely exploration of immigration in America
Why see Mojada?
New York Premiere
The Public present a timely production of Luis Alfaro's Mojado. Drawing on ancient Greek mythology, this play updates Euripides' story to modern day America, and tackles one of our most contentious issues - immigration. Set in Los Angeles, the story follows a Mexican family trying to make a better life for themselves. However, their American dream turns sour, and tragedy looms it head. Chay Yew directs this production.
What is Mojada About?
Medea and Jason, their son Acan, and servant Tita, have made the move from Mexico in Los Angeles. A number of factors soon start to put the family unit under pressure. Jason's boss has taken a liking to him, and Acan is rejecting his Mexican heritage to fit in at school. As Medea's despair at what America is doing to her family grows, an unlikely solution presents itself, one that will have tragic consequences.
