The world's favorite ballet is still a marvel. Spellbinding.
Independent
In 1995 Matthew Bourne and his New Adventures troupe took the Ballet world by storm when they debuted their male-dominated version of Tchaikovsky's Swan Lake. Since then the production has become one of the worlds most iconic pieces of dance and is now the proud owner of an Olivier and three Tony awards!
Swapping out the traditional all-female corps-de-ballet and replacing it with an all-male ensemble, Bourne transformed Swan Lake from an enchanting love story to a dark and menacing tale of obsession and betrayal. Still full of magic and beauty, this Swan Lake is the perfect piece for our ever-changing world, challenging the norm and leaving you enraptured by its shifted point of view.
Alonside Lez Brotherson (set and costumes) and Paul Constable (lighting) Matthew Bourne brings an updated reimagining of his beloved game-changer. Retaining all the elements that made the original production such a hit, this exciting new production is perfect for 21st-century audiences.
