Home of the world's longest running Broadway since The Phantom of the Opera first premiered there in 1988, New York's Majestic Theatre was built in 1927 as part of an entertainment complex. It's sheer size (1645 seating capacity) made it, and continues to make it, a popular choice for big Broadway productions and it has become an indelible part of the city - both the building's interior and exterior were made New York City Landmarks in 1987.
