New York Philharmonic - Trifonov and Beethoven

New York Philharmonic - Trifonov and Beethoven at David Geffen Hall at Lincoln Center

Why see New York Philharmonic - Trifonov and Beethoven?

Daniil Trifonov Scales The Heights of The Emperor Concerto

Celebrating his first official season as the New York Philharmonic's fearless leader, baton-wielding Music Director Jaap Van Zweden welcomes Russian piano superstar Daniil Trifonov during a soul-stirring program of Beethoven and Stravinsky, as well as a new world premiere work by sound installation artist and composer Ashley Fure.

A composer for the new generation, Fure has proved her mettle as one of the finest young composers of the decade with her auditory explorations of the physical act of making sound and music. Her brand new, NY Phil-commissioned work is followed by Beethoven's triumphant Emperor Concerto, in which Trifonov will scale the soaring heights of its virtuosic and technically-demanding piano passages and mellifluous melodies. The program closes with Stravinsky's Rite Of Spring, a landmark ballet filled with innovative arranging and the provocative, political and primal imagery of a pagan ritual.
