Why See Amateur Night At The Apollo?
An NYC institution
Amateur Night At The Apollo has been a key feature in the New York scene since 1934 when it launched, and has been the stepping stone in the career of many world-class musicians and entertainers, including Lauryn Hill and Stevie Wonder.
The evening's format follows a similar one to that of popular TV talent shows like American Idol and Star Search, where a pre-selected group of hopefuls do their best on-stage to impress a panel of judges. However At Amateur Night At The Apollo, the audience is the judge and has the responsibility of deciding who stays and who goes - cheering loudly for those they like, and booing those they deem less adept off the stage.
Opening night: 30 April 2014
Suitable for audiences of all ages
90 minutes with no intermission
