Africa Now: South Africa

A night of major South African talent.
Why see Africa Now: South Africa?
Jointly presented by The Apollo Theater and the World Music Institute, this night is the main event in The Apollo's four day Africa Now! South Africa festival. Showcasing some of the country's most innovative and celebrated artists, the night's line-up is headed by Simphiwe Dana. Often tagged as the new Miriam Makeba, her soulful update of traditional African music came to the world's attention in 2004, when she released her debut album Zandisilie. Alongside Dana, the other acts performing include vocal group The Soil and hip-hop artist Tumi Molekane.
Africa Now! South Africa is a series of events at The Apollo Theater to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of Nelson Mandela's inauguration. Other performers over its four days include singer Toya Delazy and rock band The Muffinz.
