Why see Macbeth?

Anthony Mackie Takes On Macbeth!

Venue, dates and further information to be announced.

The crown awaits one of Marvel's greatest! After over 15 years away from the stage, Anthony Mackie is swapping his superhero suit for Shakespeare's infamous villain in this all-new Broadway transfer of London's 2023 Donmar Warehouse critically acclaimed production – and this is Macbeth like you've never seen it before.

Directed by Tony and Olivier Award-nominated director Max Webster (Henry V), the original production starred David Tennant and Cush Jumbo as the ruthless Macbeths. It later transferred to the Harold Pinter Theatre in the West End for a sold-out 11-week run. Audiences wore headphones throughout, with binaural microphones capturing every whisper and sound up close, making for an extra immersive take on Shakespeare's classic.

About Macbeth

Since Macbeth's first staging in 1606, the play has been a staple around the world in theatre, literature, music and, in modern times, film, making it one of the most enduring and influential works of all time. Macbeth, encouraged by a prophecy from three mysterious witches and fuelled by the ambitions of his power-hungry wife, Lady Macbeth, is consumed by a desire to seize the throne. As he succumbs to his dark ambitions, Macbeth becomes entangled in a web of deceit, betrayal and guilt. The play explores the consequences of unchecked ambition, ultimately delving into the psychological turmoil that plagues Macbeth as he faces the harrowing consequences of his actions.
