Finally making its way back to Broadway in 2026!
And we are telling you...you're gonna love it! It's official, after years of speculation, Dreamgirls is finally heading back to Broadway in 2026, in a brand new revival directed and choreographed by multi-Tony nominee Camille A. Brown! Loosely based on the ascendance of The Supremes, Dreamgirls is a bold and brilliant story that follows fictional 60s girl group The Dreams, and features a soundtrack of monumental musical theatre hits, including 'And I Am Telling You I'm Not Going',' One Night Only' and 'I am Changing.'
While many a dream cast has been created by fans over the years, the production announced today that they'll be mounting a worldwide search to find its stars, with audititons for "talented women of all shapes and sizes" set to be held in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, Atlanta, Detroit, Miami, London, Toronto, Mexico City, Amsterdam, Rome, and Paris.
First hitting the Broadway stage in 1981, starring Jennifer Holliday, in 2005 it enjoyed an adaptation to the big screen starring Beyonce, Jennifer Hudson, and Anika Noni-Rose, before opening in London to rave reviews in 2016.
Hopeful talents Deena Jones, Lorrell Robinson, and Effie White are performing as "The Dreamettes" when ambitious agent Curtis Taylor, Jr. discovers them.
After quickly landing them a job as backup singers for the soul and rock 'n roll sensation James "Thunder" Early, he begins to guide their quickly rising career, and dictates their every move. However, when the beautiful Deena emerges as the star of the group rather than the full-voiced Effie, the girls' rivalry leads to a personal and professional crossroads for the trio.
