American Psycho is well on its way to becoming one of those cult favorites.
The murderously stylish, synth-pop-scored musical is set to make a comeback in New York City in 2027! Currently in development, this killer return of American Psycho will be directed by Max Hunter and is based on Bret Easton Ellis' 1991 novel and the film of the same name.
American Psycho's transformation into an ironic musical spectacle was the idea of playwright Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa, with music and lyrics by Duncan Sheik. The musical first premiered on Broadway in 2016, earning two Tony Award nominations. A strange concept, you might think - a yuppie whose life is built on shallow consumerism and violent, diabolical acts - but American Psycho is a slick, funny and clever show that illustrates our fascination with capitalism and how it can devalue the few real things in life.
On the outside, Patrick Bateman looks like he has it all: money, designer clothes, a great job and a beautiful girlfriend. But the handsome young Wall Street yuppie feels numb to everything, with emotion a language he can't understand. As such, he feels no remorse when committing murder in a variety of gruesome ways. But it becomes increasingly obvious that even his serial killing antics might not help him reclaim reality...

Mesmerizing, mysterious, interesting
Award winning composer Duncan Sheik delivers a clever mix of classic 80's tunes and original music to narrate the homicidal tale. Everything from the set and costumes to the lighting and sound was stylized, colorful, synthesized, and robotic. Like one gi
