Why see Parcel From America?
An Irish Holiday Story
Parcel From America is the delightful Off-Broadway musical inspired by the very real history of the Irish diaspora and the legacy of their migration as felt back home during the holidays. Written by wife-and-husband duo Jahnna Beecham (book and lyrics) and Malcolm Hillgartner (music and lyrics) alongside their collaborators Michael J. Hume (book and lyrics) and Kevin Corcoran (composition and arrangement), the production is based on a story by Tomaseen Foley, a warming Christmas tale set in Western Ireland.
What Is The Story?
Set in the '50s in rural parts of Limerick, West Ireland, Parcel From America is a Christmas story based on the parcels sent across the Atlantic ocean by Irish emigrants to America, with clothes and desperately needed money making their way back home. One young boy and a widow receive one such parcel, but its contents are set to change not just their lives, but also those of the community around them.
