Why see Kilgallen?

A New True-Crime Musical

The Theatre at St. Jean hosts the world premiere of the York Theatre Company’s Kilgallen, spotlighting the trailblazing journalist of the 50s and 60s, Dorothy Kilgallen, and the mysterious fate that befell her. Featuring a score and book by Chuck Strand, with lyrics by Strand and Emily Drossell and musical contributions from George Peterson, expect this new show to be a seasonal highlight for a company famous for fostering groundbreaking new theatrical talent.

What Is It About?

This musical true-crime story follows the female journalist who ruled mid-century media, Dorothy Kilgallen. When she uncovers what she believes is a systematic burial of the truth surrounding the JFK assassination, her relentless pursuit of the real story puts her own life in direct peril. But even then, Kilgallen refuses to step down, leaving behind an extraordinary legacy and an eventual death in mysterious circumstances and with suspicious timing, which remains unsolved to this day.
