Memoirs of Amorous Gentlemen, the musical adapted from the award-winning manga by Moyoco Anno, makes history as the first Japanese graphic novel to be adapted into an original English-language musical in America! With a book by Peabody Award-winning playwright Leah Nanako Winkler and music by Tony winner Duncan Sheik (Spring Awakening), Bohemian Paris and the desires of its inhabitants are brought to life by a cast led by stage favorite Sophia Anne Caruso (Beetlejuice), overseen by Tony Award-winning director and choreographer Rob Ashford (Evita). 

What Is The Story

While working in a high-end brothel in early 20th-century Paris, courtesan Colette is not content to simply be a passive participant in the desires of her clients. She begins secretly documenting the confessions, vulnerabilities and fantasies of the wealthy men who pay for her services, becoming somewhat of a chronicler of their stories rather than an object within in. All the while, her unhealthy obsession with her childhood romance Leon, despite recognizing what he really is, is something she can seem to never escape from.
