Sea Wall

Sea Wall at Studio Seaview

Why see Sea Wall?

Andrew Scott Stars!

First performed at London's Bush Theatre in 2008, Sea Wall was written by Simon Stephens specifically for Andrew Scott, who went on to make the role completely his own. Scott returned to the play several times over the years, including a 2018 London performance, while Tom Sturridge took on the role for its 2019 Broadway premiere, alongside Jake Gyllenhaal's A Life. Now, in 2026, Scott returns to the role for a strictly limited two-week run at New York’s Studio Seaview!

There's an extra twist to this production, too: all 19 performances are being filmed by director Tina Satter for a feature film that will capture not just the performance itself, but also the audience and the experience of making theatre.

What's The Story?

For Alex, life is pretty great. He loves his wife, dotes on his young daughter and feels lucky to have a life filled with the people and things that matter most. He's happy in his work, enjoys the little details of everyday life and has every reason to believe things will carry on just as they are.

But life has other plans. When a devastating tragedy turns his world upside down, Alex is left trying to make sense of something that seems impossible to understand. As he looks back on the memories, conversations and moments that have shaped his life, he grapples with grief, faith and the questions that have no easy answers.
