Monty Pythons Spamalot

Monty Pythons Spamalot at Shubert Theatre

So long, farewell! Monty Pythons Spamalot finished at Shubert Theatre on January 11, 2009

Why see Monty Pythons Spamalot?

Telling the legendary tale of King Arthur and the Knights of the Round Table and the quest for the Holy Grail in song, Monty Python's Spamalot features "a chorus line of legless knights, men in tights (with legs), killer rabbits and sexy dancing divas."  The production also promises "some of the most unforgettable musical numbers you will ever see in the theater on this evening!"

Spamalot is an adaptation of Monty Python and the Holy Grail, the 1975 film that is the best loved and most successful of the Monty Python screen ventures. This outrageous new musical stars Tim Curry (The Rocky Horror Picture Show) as King Arthur, David Hyde Pierce (Frasier) as Sir Robin and Hank Azaria as Sir Lancelot. Tony and Academy Award-winner Mike Nichols will serve as director.

Best Production of SPAMALOT I've ever seen!

I'm amazed by this production of Spamalot. I'm an avid theatre goer and after having watched the original Broadway cast, the Broadway Revival and a couple of regional theatres doing their renditions of Spamalot I can assure you that this National Tour is by far the BEST version you'll ever seen. The cast's energy is just contagious, the acting, the dialect, the costumes, scenery...ALL on point! Leslie Jackson is amazing as Lady of the Lake, with incredible vocal range, and solid acting chops. I also have to give props to all the Knights of the round table, they will make you laugh until your belly hurts. The choreography is also perfection, and it really adds to the humor of the show. Among very talented cast members the Featured Dancer Mateus Barbosa da Silva was definitely one of the highlights of the show. He wasn't just impeccable on his dancing but he also had perfect comedic timing (which I find it hard to see in dancers nowadays). If you have the opportunity go watch them before they finish the tour! ... Read more

Spamalot Guarantees You a Great Time!

Saw the show on December 29, 2006, with relatives who hate musicals (and none of us had ever been to a Broadway show or NYC before) and my brother actually left the Shubert Theatre humming a Spamalot tune! Great performances by all--the company really appears to be having a blast--so it easily translates to the audience. See it soon to catch Marin Mazzie's spectular turn as the Lady of the Lake! Not only is she breathtakingly beautiful, but when she entered the stage for her fist number, her voice was so incredible that the rowdy New Year's Eve weekend crowd automatically became still--it was an astonishing moment that my entire family will never forget. Also, kuddos to the Shubert Theater management--there was a small "fire" backstage just before intermission, and all patrons were ushered out of the theater witin 90 seconds without any incident, and the cast made joking references to the "fire" for the remainder of the show. (A fake fire and complentary drinks during intermission!) ... Read more

SPAMALOT - Fantastic Show !!!!!

We went to the show in costume in NYC. (5 of us) Eric Idle came out to take a picture with us, inside the Shubert Theater, when we went to the show, he is an incredibly nice guy! (and the photographer at the theatre gave us copies, cool dude) The Actors in the show itself did a wonderful job and I wish them a never ending run! They are funny and talented actors, singers and dancers! They were all nice and personable after the show signing autographs and taking pictures. The Staff at the theater were GREAT PEOPLE who made us and everyone who was there comfortable. It was a very well run production. Seating and views were great, bring the family and friends. Spamalot was fantastic! ... Read more
