The King's Critique

The King's Critique at Romulus Linney Courtyard Theatre

Why see The King's Critique?

Musical Comedy Premiere

Irreverent new musical comedy The King’s Critique by writers Nat Zegree and Eric Holmes makes its Off-Broadway premiere! Directed by Catie Davis, the outrageously fun, chaotically camp, high-energy spectacle with a pop-infused score boasts an excellent cast, including Taylor Iman Jones as Josephine, Sky Lakota-Lynch as Sebastian, and Justin Collette as King Benjamin, as well as a creative team which includes Tony-winning sound designer Jessica Paz (Hadestown) and choreography from Nancy Renee Braun. Bizarre, fabulous and side-splittingly funny, secure your tickets now.

What Is It About?

The women of the kingdom have been banned by royal decree from performing on stage by nasty King Benjamin. However, determined to defy the King’s censorship, performer Josephine comes up with a wild scheme to sneak her way back into the spotlight. The plan involves tenor Sebastian - who also happens to be a bit of a f*ckboy - but when theater people enact plans it often gets quite messy… expect that to be the case here, to the absolute maximum degree.
