Lauren Yee's sharp new comedy debuts Off Broadway this February
Multiple award-winning writer Lauren Yee brings her new comedy Off-Broadway, making its New York premiere at the Pershing Square Signature Center this February! Weaving a darkly comic tale of love, identity, and state surveillance in post-Soviet 1990s St Petersburg, Mother Russia is a whip-smart piece of unmissable theater.
It's 1992, and St Petersburg is really starting to change. The Soviet Union has gone, and Americanisms are filling the gap. Sneaking through this new world are young surveillance agents and old friends, Evgeny and Dmitry. Their lives are about to change when they start tailing the mysterious singer Katya - and Evgeny is finding himself falling absolutely head over heels. As they get deeper into the chase, Evgeny will start to question the allegiances of his life and where his heart really belongs. The world is getting a whole lot bigger.
