"The superlative performances from all five actors, under Ms. Tommy's sensitive direction, draw us so deeply into the lives of the women that this darkness nevertheless flickers with glimmers of light, humanity and even hope."

Oscar Winner Lupita Nyong'o takes the lead!
The luminous Oscar winner Lupita Nyong'o leads the New York premiere of this esteemed play from Danai Gurira. Set during the Liberian Civil War of 2003, Eclipsed is the story of a band of captive wives of a rebel officer. Through adversity they have formed an unlikely sisterhood to deal with the violence and struggle all around them. When a new girl is added to the group, tensions begin to surface quickly in their neglected corner of the compound. Compassionate, witty and deeply moving, it is a portrait of morality during war, and ponders whether the greatest enemy is actually within the brutality of our own side.
After a successful and critically lauded run in London, Eclipsed now comes to N.Y, to the Public Theater, with 12 Years a Slave's Lupita Nyong'o as The Girl in this strictly limited run! Don't miss your chance to catch her in this astounding piece of international theatre.
