Led by the incredible Billie Piper
One of 2016's most acclaimed West End dramas comes to New York, featuring a blistering lead performance by Olivier Award winner and former Doctor Who assistant Billie Piper. Australian dramatist and director, Simon Stone makes his New York debut in this reimagining of Federico Garcia Lorca's 1934 paralysing drama.
Yerma is a tragic portrait of a young woman (played by Piper) desperate to bear children, despite her husband's repudiation, and is driven to the unthinkable due to her obsession with her own infertility. Stone relocates the play's action to the modern day, allowing an examination of the dangers of our online world.
Since her Doctor Who days, Piper's acting career has gone from strength to strength, but for many critics, Yerma was her greatest performance yet. The Financial Times called her portrayal "devastating", while the Guardian called her "earth-shattering."
