Bat Boy returns to New York for Halloween
The 2001 Off-Broadway sleeper hit Bat Boy swoops back into New York this year with a brand new production at New York City Center! Directed by Tony winner Alex Timbers (Beetlejuice) and with upbeat music by Laurence O'Keefe (Legally Blonde) and orchestrations by Alex Lacamoire (Hamilton), the hilariously creepy musical arrives just in time for a Halloween romp!
An iconic example of American tabloid story fabrications, Bat Boy: The Musical is inspired by The Weekly World News, who published an infamous story describing the discovery of a creature who is half human and half bat'. Bat Boy ran as a cover story in 1992 and was the second-best selling issue in the publication's history, turning Bat Boy into an instant pop-culture icon.
