A brand new work from Pulitzer Prize winner Martyna Majok
Pulitzer Prize-winning Polish American playwright and frequent New York Theatre Workshop collaborator Martyna Majok is back with a brand new work since the Lincoln Center debut of the critically acclaimed drama Queens. Majok returns to the overarching theme of immigration,in Sanctuary City, set for a hotly anticipated run during the influential Off-Broadway theatre company's 2019/20 season.
Approaching the hot topic from a deeply personal and human perspective, Majok's unforgettable new work is set after 9/11 but before the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals rocked the headline. The story follows two-lifelong friends, one a freshly naturalised teenager who decides to marry her undocumented companion to help her stay in the country. Raw and real, this tender portrait of friendship and sacrifice is simply not to be missed.
