Hit the open road on a trip of a lifetime in this Off-Broadway premiere of coming of age musical about the bond between mother and daughter. The poignant production features a book by Tony and Pulitzer Prize winning Puerto Rican American playwright Quiara Alegria Hudes, the pen behind Lin-Manuel Miranda smash in the Heights and Water By The Spoonful, and a diverse score by folk rock singer songwriter Erin McKeown.
Broadway royalty Daphne Rubin Vega takes on the role of Beatriz, the fiery, independent mom of the equally fiery and independent 16 year-old Olivia. Undocumented and very close to deportation, Beatriz takes her estranged daughter on a road trip, hoping to heal old wounds. Along the way they meet a variety of eclectic and colorful characters that mirror and celebrate America's diversity.
