Why see Anon - A Tempest At Our Kitchen Table?
The Fractures Of Today
Kicking off MCC Theater’s 2026-27 season is this brand new play from acclaimed Anne Washburn (Mr. Burns, a post-electric play), staged by Tony-nominated and Obie Award-director Anne Kauffman (Mary Jane). ANON – A Tempest At Our Kitchen Table interrogates the cultural fractures that have become the hallmark of our age, and at select dates features post-show discussions and public forums to discuss the issues explored in the play. A biting take on our time, don’t miss out on tickets to this one.
What Is The Story?
In suburban Texas a gay pride flag is raised opposite the house of chronically online TikTok user Jeanie. It sparks immediate paranoia, sending two households, both apparently very different from eachother, into spiraling panic. In a picture of the collision between internet fueled outrage and domestic life in today’s America, Washburn asks the question: how well do we truly know our neighbors, in an era where facts get traded for ideological fantasy?
