Richard Burton Reimagined!
One of the brightest acting exports Wales has seen since the days of icon Richard Burton himself, Emmy Award winner Matthew Rhys makes his Lincoln Center Theater debut in Playing Burton following its acclaimed premiere with Welsh National Theatre. Mark Jenkins’s one-man play arrives in New York under the direction of Tony Award winner Bartlett Sher.
About The Show
From the green valleys and rugged coastlines of South Wales to global fame, the play traces Burton's unprecedented rise to fame, his explosive romance with Elizabeth Taylor, and his battle with alcoholism. Poignant, witty, and unflinchingly honest, Playing Burton celebrates a man forever caught between brilliance and self-destruction.
