Kimberly Belflower and Danya Taymore reunite for Born In The Dirt
Tony Award-nominee Kimberly Belflower brings a brand new player to the Lincoln Center Theater, premiering there in a production directed by Tony Award-winner Danya Taymor (The Outsiders). Born in the Dirt re-unites the pair, following their work together on John Proctor is the Villain which became a breakthrough work for Belflower; it was nominated for Best Play at the Tony Awards during its 2025 run and is set for a film adaptation from Universal Pictures. A witty new work that explores what community and art really mean, Born in the Dirt is set to be another landmark for the Appalachian playwright.
Maddy Grace has never wanted anything more than to escape the tiny town in the South she grew up in. However, when her planned dream life in LA doesn't quite pan out the way she wanted, she finds herself back and working at the town's so-called "hospital", which actually manufactures dolls to be shipped to collectors the world over. When she decides to learn more about the employees by making a documentary, she soon discovers that there's much more to the tale than meets the eye - including for herself.
