A tour-de-force performance from Billy Crudup

After a marvelously successful (and twice extended) run at the Vineyard Theatre in 2017, Billy Crudup returns to star in Leigh Silverman's production of David Cale's one-man thriller, reprising his performance as the unscrupulous Harry Clarke for 10 weeks only.

Pitch dark, comic and creepy, Crudup deftly navigates the world of 'Clarke', an alter ego of the ambitious midwesterner Philip. About as far as you can get from Indiana, Harry Clarke is a braggadocios Londoner who flits and flirts between cockney and posh accents in an attempt to seduce wealthy New Yorkers out of their cash. As their infatuation grows for this appealing stranger, the imposter gets a little too comfortable with his charade, endangering his con, and ultimately blurring the line between fact and fiction to reach a shattering realization.

Crudup's performance takes us through not just Philip and his Jekyll, but through the dozens of people he meets and charms along the way, slipping in and out of characters with highly praised skill. A sure fire contender for awards season, it looks as if this surprise revival will be one of the highlights of the spring - don't miss out.
