Metropolitan Opera - Samson et Dalila

Metropolitan Opera - Samson et Dalila at Metropolitan Opera House

Why see Metropolitan Opera - Samson et Dalila?

Saint-Saens' Operatic Epic Samson & Delilah

Comprised of some of the most exquisite musical moments in French opera, Camille Saint-Saens' Samson and Delilah is his most commonly performed work of the genre. Experience its sumptuous, sweeping romance in Tony-winning Broadway director Darko Tresnjak's towering production, featuring a huge orchestra and chorus, and Aigal Akhmetshina and Clay Hilley as the titular couple.

What Is The Story?

Samson and Delilah tells the story of the biblical parable, in which the Israelite leader Samson becomes a thorn in the side of local Philistine ruler Abimelech's side when he incites rebellion amongst the Hebrew slaves. Blessed by God with incredible strength, Samson courts tragedy when he is ensnared by the beauty of Dagon priestess Delilah, leading to a breathtaking aural and visual climax in the opera's final act.
