Why see Metropolitan Opera: Arabella?
The Metropolitan Opera's 2013/2014 Season production of Strauss?s opera, Arabella, will star Swedish soprana Malin Bystrom in the title role. The 3-act comedic opera is set in Vienna and tells the story of a beautiful young girl whose hopes to marry for love clash with her parents' desires for her to marry for money.
The opera was first performed in New York City in 1955 in a production by the Met Opera. Bystrom will perform alongside Michael Volle and Genia Kuhmeier. The orchestra will be confucted by Philippe Auguin.
